On 28th of December, 2012 we registered a new legal Association - Chitalishte Drastar 2012. The
Chitalishte is registered as non-profit
organization, as provided for in the Law on the Public Chitalishte
We choose the name Drastar (Bulgarian) as this was
the ancient name of Silistra - Dorostolon - during 9th century.
The main goals of the Chitalishte Drastar 2012 are:
1. Conservation,
protection, development and promotion of
the customs and traditions of the Bulgarian
people, particularly in the region of Silistra;
2. Widening
the knowledge
of people and their adherence to the values and achievements of science, art and culture;
3. Collection of materials and items of local and national culture in order to store and
display them for future
generations.
4. Development of creative and spiritual gifts in people, mainly children and young people by helping enrich their
knowledge and education in the
traditions and culture of the Bulgarian
people and human values and their
adherence to the values and achievements
of science, arts and culture in
Bulgaria.
5. Public education and promotion of the Bulgarian national identity;
6. Providing access to
information;
Main fields of activity of the Chitalishte Drastar 2012
are:
1. Providing
and maintaining the library, reading room and videotheque,
as well as create and maintain electronic
information networks;
2. Providing trainings, computer and Internet services;
3. Development,
dissemination and support to the artistic creativity including amateur arts;
4. Organizing schools, courses, clubs, film and video exhibitions, festivals, concerts, celebrations and youth
activities;
5. Collect and
disseminate knowledge about the homeland;
6. Create, preserve and promote the museum
and other collections under the Cultural Heritage Act;
7. Provides
social, educational and information services to the
people and disadvantaged groups with special needs;
8. Perform
additional
businesses
and services related
to the main
activity,
not inconsistent with the
current Bulgarian legislation
but using the
revenues to
achieve only the main objectives.
The Chitalishte only operates in the public interest and does not distribute any profits.
The President of the Association Chitalishte
Drastar 2012 was elected Mr Darin Boev. The Management board also consists of:
